The paintings in Lucy Hennessy's exhibition Love and Light are the result of a journey of shifting and deeply felt ideas. She follows a long line of artists who are primarily storytellers. Storytelling is her way of making sense of life and connecting with the world.
Love and Light is a sensuous presentation of ideas connected spiritually and expressed visually with the presence of light and a feeling of open communication, joy and love. In this group of paintings she is thinking about how we are all connected to each other and our environment.
Her paintings strive to evoke the words of the 15th century artist Cennino Cennini as "representing something that is not visible through something that is."
